Global TVOD requirements

All technical requirements for TVOD launches correspond to the Prime Video global specifications, outlined in the Global Territory Packaging Requirements. Prime Video accepts MovieLabs specification assets and core title metadata (i.e. MMC and MEC) and EMA 1.7.2 or 1.7.3 avails for our Global catalog. Please see Sample Files to view examples of accepted files, and please review the content of this page carefully before making deliveries.

Global TVOD delivery requirements

This section presents the minimum localization requirements to publish TVOD titles, but we encourage partners to deliver all the localized assets (images, audio, timed-text) that are available to them so that we can offer the best experience to customers.

To publish a TVOD offer, Prime Video requires a full delivery package with localized metadata and assets in the primary language for that territory. For each title, the following deliveries are required:

  • Avails
  • Metadata (title, synopsis) in the primary language for the territory
  • Video matching highest resolution in the avail (e.g., a 4K UHD mezzanine if sending 4K UHD and HD avails)
  • 16:9 cover art, 3:4 box art, and 16:9 hero (background) art
  • Assets in the primary language for the territory, which may be fulfilled by one of the following:
    • The video, if the Original Voice (OV) matches the primary language (e.g., Amélie in France) OR
    • The video with embedded localized audio track (only applicable to territories where OV is not mandatory for publishing) OR
    • An additional localized caption/subtitle file OR
    • An additional localized discrete multi-track audio
  • For Brazil, India, and Sweden: boxart and covert art in the required Language-Locale are also required.
  • For Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Finland, Ireland, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal and Sweden, the Original Voice (OV) of the title is required, either as embedded in the video or as separate component.

Required languages for each territory are as follows:

Prime Video reserves the right to withhold publishing titles if they don't satisfy our localization criteria.

The Title Requests tab in Video Central will display all required title parts that a partner or posthouse must fulfill for a title to go live on Prime Video. As you deliver content rights (avails) to Prime Video, Requests populate with all delivery requirements, including the localizations necessary for a designated territory. As you and your posthouse deliver assets, Requests provide live updates of title fulfillment, as well as display any file-level errors preventing fulfillment. Please consult this resource regularly to avoid content delays due to missing localization. To learn more about this feature, go to the support page for Title Requests.

POEST

Prime Video supports the publishing of pre-order EST (POEST) offers in all TVOD territories.

To publish POEST offers, we require the delivery of avails, metadata and artwork (including Language-Locale requirements where applicable) at least 7 days in advance of the POEST offer start date, as per our delivery SLAs.

POEST and EST Avails must be submitted together. If not submitted together, the Avails will fail ingestion.

Playable assets are not required to publish the POEST offer, but must be provided in advance of the EST start date as per our delivery SLAs.
