Title metadata is the information customers use to decide what to watch. It includes your title name, synopsis, runtime, genre, director, cast, ratings, and other production details.
Without complete and accurate metadata, your title will not publish on Prime Video. You can deliver metadata in localized and original-language versions. Regardless of your delivery method, the same core data must be present.

Content ID (SKU) Requirements
Every title requires a unique Content ID (SKU). This ID links your metadata to your content rights and assets. It must be identical across all your delivery files.
- Must be unique within your catalog. No two titles can share the same ID.
- Must match across your rights file, asset metadata, and title metadata.
- 50-character maximum.
- May only contain English letters, numbers, dashes (-), and underscores (_).
A single ID mismatch will prevent your title from linking correctly in Prime Video systems.
Cast and Crew Rules
- Movies require at least one Director.
- TV content requires at least one job function entry.
- Maximum 100 entries per title.
- Accepted job functions: Director, Producer, Actor, Writer, and Creator.
- Each person entry must include a display name.
Content Ratings Rules
Ratings tell customers whether content is appropriate for their household. Follow these rules to avoid publishing errors.
- Provide all ratings available across all territories where you have rights.
- If content has been rated in some territories but not all, include only available ratings.
- Do not include a reference to territories where the title is unrated.
- If content has not received a rating in any territory, indicate “Not Rated.”
- Rating systems and values must conform to MovieLabs common metadata ratings.
Genre Rules
- At least one genre is required in at least one localized section.
- Up to three unique genres are allowed per title.
- Two genres display on the storefront. The third feeds discoverability algorithms.
- Genres must come from the Prime Video genre list (not the standard MEC/MovieLabs list).
- Each genre must include its corresponding ID code.
What Blocks Publishing
The following issues will prevent your title from going live.
- Missing required fields: title name, synopsis, genre, release date, rating, cast/crew, or artwork.
- Mismatched unique IDs across your metadata, rights, and asset files.
- Missing parent relationship for episodes, seasons, trailers, or bonus content.
- Missing sequence numbers for episodes or seasons.
- Special characters not properly encoded in synopsis fields.
- Non-compliant submissions that do not adhere to Prime Video requirements.
Know Before You Go
Verify your unique ID matches exactly across all delivery files before submitting.
Always include all available ratings when you submit or update metadata.
Use the Prime Video genre list and include the genre ID code.
Keep your short synopsis under 150 characters.
For TV content, deliver Series, Season, and Episode metadata together when possible.
If delivering sequentially, submit in this order: Series first, then Season, then Episode.
For Trailers, provide a Short Synopsis to improve discoverability in browse and search.
For Bonus content, Short Synopsis and Medium Synopsis are required.
