Subscriptions dashboard overview

Last updated 2025-09-24

The Subscriptions dashboard in Slate contains subscription data for your Channel(s).

General information

The Last updated tag at the top of the dashboard tells you how long ago your data was refreshed on the page. Data typically refreshes 4-6 times per day.

Note: If the last updated time exceeds 24 hours, the Prime Video Slate team is working to resolve an issue. Please check back later.

Subscription data is grouped by the date on which the subscription event occurred for the subscriber.

For example:

  • If a user in the PST time zone at 11 PM on January 1 signs up, their subscription start will be anchored to January 1.
  • If a user in the EST time zone at 2 AM January 2 signs up, their subscription start will be anchored to January 2.

The following controls on the page let you interact with the dashboard to focus on the specific information you need.

  • Date Range: This dropdown enables you to select the date range for all data shown on this page.
  • Channel/Tier: Offers are grouped under a single Channel for ease of analysis, or under a single Tier if the Channel has multiple tiers. The Channel/Tier dropdown allows you to filter this list and multi-select the options you want to view.

Definitions

  • Paid subscriptions card: This card shows your ending period paid subscriptions for all the selected Channel/Tier options. The total counts any paid subscriptions (such as Hard Offers) at the end of the measured period you chose in Date Range. The % change shown in the card represents the change in total paid subscriptions from start to the end of the measured period.
  • Free trial starts card: This KPI card shows how many free-trial starts you have over a measured period. The % change period-over-period represents the change in start volume from the measured period to the prior same-length period (for example, the previous 30 days versus the measured 30 days).
  • Conversion rate card: This KPI card shows how many free trials that ended during the measured period converted to a hard offer. The % change represents the change in conversion rate from the measured period to the prior same-length period (for example, the previous 30 days versus the measured 30 days).
  • Free trial settles card: This KPI card shows the number of free trials that ended during the measured period. This is the denominator of the Conversion rate KPI card.
  • Paid subscriptions chart: This chart provides a visualization of your ending period paid subscriptions over the selected time range. You can compare any selected Channel/Tier options as unique lines, and click their color mapping in the chart key at the bottom to hide any lines you don’t want to see. (Your total count in the Paid subscriptions card above won’t change.)

Hover over a point on the chart to see additional metrics for that period:

    • Date: This is a single date to define the metrics in the hover state, from start of date to end of date (midnight to midnight).
    • End period paid subscriptions: This is the ending period paid subscriptions for that Channel/Tier on that date. This is calculated with the other metrics in the card like this:
Ending Period Paid Subscriptions = Beginning Subscriptions + Starts + Tier Arrivals - Cancels - Tier Departures.
    • Beginning period: This is the paid subscriptions at the start of that period. The addition/subtraction from other metrics can be applied to Beginning Subscriptions to reach your Ending Period Paid Subscriptions.
    • Starts: The number of start events that occurred from the beginning of the period to the end of the period.
    • Cancels: The number of cancel events that occurred from the beginning of the period to the end of the period.
    • Tier arrivals and Tier departures: The number of tier change events that occurred over the measured period. These can be either events arriving on the hovered-over tier from another tier, or departing from the hovered-over tier to another tier. This is counted as any subscriber who completes a movement (cancelation of one tier, start of another) within 24 hours.

For example: Suppose a customer canceled Ad-Free Tier A and subscribed to Ad-Support Tier B within 24 hours. This is a Tier Departure for Tier A and a Tier Arrival for Tier B.

  • Net paid subscriptions chart: This chart showcases the net active subscriptions after starts and cancels are accounted for, to help you better visualize growth and/or decline. Aggregated starts are above 0 on the chart, and aggregated cancels are below 0. The hover state showcases the net difference between these two and is shown in parentheses if negative.
  • Free trial conversion chart: This line chart showcases the free trial conversion rate over time. In a hover state, you can see the specific counts driving the conversion rate displayed in the line.
  • Subscription by offers table: In this table you can see offer-level details about your subscriptions business. You can sort and filter by any attributes in the table, use page-level date and channel/tier filters to influence table content, and export data to CSV. The table consists of the following columns:
    • Channel / Tier: The name of the Channel ID and unique Offer ID of the offer.
    • Current Price: The current price of the offer.
    • Promotion: This flag is present when an offer is a promotion.
    • Offer Type: Hard Offer (paid subscription) or Free Trial.
    • Start date: The date the offer started. You can sort this column to find new offers.
    • Renewal: The renewal period of the offer:
      • Blank for free trials (they do not renew)
      • 30 days for monthly subscriptions
      • 365 days for annual plans
    • Starting period: The count of subscribers at the start of the measured period.
    • Starts: The count of starts over the measured period.
    • Cancels: The count of cancelations over measured period.
    • Tier Arrivals: The count of arrivals to the selected offer from another tier within the same channel during the measured period.
    • Tier Departures: The count of departures from the selected offer to another tier within the same channel during the measured period.
    • Ending period: The count of subscribers at the end of the measured period.
    • Converted to HO: For Free Trials only—the count of subscribers whose trials settled over the measured period and converted to a hard offer.
      • Note: Trial periods can extend beyond a measured period, so you may see starts that do not result in a cancel or a conversion to HO. Use the Conversion rate KPI card and Free trial conversion line chart for accurate conversion rate calculations.
    • Converted to Non-promo offer: For promotional offers only—the count of subscribers who finished their promotion and converted to a non-promotional offer during the measured period.

Note: Using Excel to balance subscribers when conversion between offers occurs may net slight differences, because subscribers can land in a variety of offers.
