Amazon’s automated recommendation system helps you create more effective promotional campaigns for your content on Prime Video. The system analyzes historical performance data, territory-specific business best practices, and market trends to suggest optimal:

  • Titles for promotion
  • Price points
  • Campaign durations
  • Timing for maximum impact

All automated recommendation are surfaced via the Self-service Promotions tool to supplement your self-service promotional workflows. You have full control; you can publish the automated recommendations as-is, or make adjustments to them at the title level.

How do automated recommendations work?

The automated recommendation system uses two models to generate the most effective promotional campaigns for your content. (Note: Availability of the models depends on the territory. Please contact your partner manager for more details.)

  1. Rule-based model: Based on industry best practices and Amazon’s extensive promotional experiences, this model uses defined territory-specific business rules to identify high-potential titles based on genre, recency, and historical performance.
  2. Machine Learning model: Expands on the rule-based model with additional science insights. This model learns from each campaign’s performance to refine future recommendations.

Both models aim to optimize incremental revenue by identifying valuable promotion opportunities deep in your catalog that might otherwise be missed. While individual gains from deeper catalog recommendations may seem small, the cumulative effect across your entire catalog, on a recurring basis, can add significant incremental revenue.

Get started with automated recommendations

  1. Automatic recommendations are surfaced on the Self-service Promotions tool page in Slate. Click the preceding link, or, on the Slate landing page, click Price promotions under Key tools.
    The automatic recommendations are listed with Recommended shown in the Status column.

  2. Review and edit the recommended promotional campaigns just like you would a self-service promotional campaign. For example, you can edit parameters such as the price and duration.
  3. When you are finished updating the campaign, click Submit.
    The new campaign will be reviewed by the Prime Video team. Once it’s approved, your campaign will go live according to the scheduled dates.
