Before you can distribute videos and receive payments, you must provide tax information to Amazon to comply with local tax regulations, depending on the terms of your Digital Video License Agreement.
Notes:
- The tax interview/questionnaire must be completed annually.
- A tax withholding percentage is applied to your royalty payments based on bank location and the information you provide in the tax questionnaire.
- You may need to provide billing preferences if you publish in the European Union (EU) or the UK.
Enter or update tax information
- In the top-right corner of the window, click the Account settings dropdown, and then click Payees, bank and tax.
On this tab, you will see the Payee name. If your organization is configured for multiple payees, you will see all payee names. If you have the correct permissions to complete tax information, the more options icon to the right of each payee name is available. - Click the more options icon for the payee you want to edit, and select Add bank and tax.
A separate page appears for you to provide tax information. - Complete the tax information, and then click Sign and Submit.
Provide an electronic signature for the fastest processing. After you complete your tax information, a green box with a check mark appears with the completion date. - To review or change this information, click Exit interview.
- If you must provide your tax information a second time, click Update tax profile.
If you have questions, click Support at the top of the dashboard to contact the tax team and ensure your account is set up correctly.
To be compliant with local billing laws and to receive payments, the tax interview is required, and you may need to select a billing preference to avoid any disruption in the payment process.
It can take 3–5 business days for this information (and any updates) to be reviewed. Check the status of your tax information submission by returning to the Tax information page in Slate. Tax statuses are explained under What does my tax status mean? in the in the Tax information FAQs section later in this page.
Note: If you publish content in a European or UK territory, you are required to complete a UK Tax Questionnaire and submit billing preferences. The new Tax Questionnaire is available in your account and determines whether you receive a monthly VAT invoice.
Change tax form delivery method
Each year, we provide tax forms for royalty payments made during the previous calendar year. By default, we mail these forms to you. To download them instead, see the next section, Download tax forms.
When you first complete the tax interview, you choose whether to opt out of mail delivery. After your tax information is submitted, you can change the delivery option on the Tax information page in Slate.
- On the top right of the window, click the Account settings dropdown, and then click Payees, bank and tax.
- Click the more options icon to the right of the payee you want to change, and then click Edit payee.
- Click View/Provide tax information.
You must provide your tax information a second time. - Click Update tax profile.
- Complete the tax information and click Submit.
- Click Change Delivery Preference. Select either Don’t send me a paper form OR Send me a paper form.

Download tax forms
Securely download your year-end tax forms online from your account using the following steps.
- On the top right of the window, click the Account settings dropdown, and then click Payees, bank and tax.
- Click the more options icon to the right of the payee you want to change, and then click Edit payee.
- Click View/Provide tax information.
- In the Client Dashboard under the US section, click Retake.
- Click download from the Tax statements widget.
