This page outlines how to deliver potential ad-supported channels. This doesn't apply to Freevee-related content.
Currently, we're dynamically inserting ad midrolls and requiring two seconds of black at ad breaks. This ensures the ad midrolls won't cut into the content time. Until Cue-point Aware Encoding is released to bypass this workflow, contact your account manager for more details.
Ad Creative specs
- This must comply with same requirements as outlined in Video.
Note: We don't allow silence or imbalance between audio channels and we only support .mp4 files.
VOD
- This must comply with same requirements as outlined in Video.
- Main content must have two seconds of black frames and silence symmetrically surrounding cue-points. The response from the ad-server should reflect the updated title timeline and cue-point location.
- Content partners should insert two seconds of black frames, symmetric to a cue-point at time stamp (not time code) at M.N second, where M is the integer second and N is the fractional second. M could be an even or odd number. Black frames are in the time range of [(M-1).N, (M+1).N].
- Prime Video will do a ceil(M.N) = (M+1), if M is odd, and floor(M.N) = M, if M is even, because of the following reasons:
- Dynamic ad insertion in VOD has the cue-point agnostic encoding, and cue-points have to be aligned at two-second fragment boundaries, rather than arbitrary time locations.
- The adjusted cue-point location in time will be still in the time range of [(M-1).N, (M+1).N] and have smooth transitions between main content and ads.
