Quality measurement and feedback

Last updated 2025-05-01

We want every Prime Video customer to enjoy the highest-quality content we can provide. To ensure this, it’s critical that your content meets our standards and specifications. We run continual reviews and audits to identify assets that don’t comply with our quality requirements, and flag each defect with a corresponding code and severity that require your attention for correction and redelivery.

The following sections contain information on both defect severity levels and defect codes and requirements to help you resolve escalations and expedite redelivery.

Defect severity levels

The severity of a defect corresponds to how it impacts the customer or viewing experience. Critical defects are the most serious, and Prime Video blocks partners from publishing an asset with a critical defect. The underlying asset must be corrected and redelivered.

The following table explains the possible severity ratings for defects, and indicates how Prime Video and partners are expected to respond to them.

Severity
Definition
Prime Video action
Partner action
Critical
An asset is missing or defective to the point that it renders the content unwatchable.
Publishing is blocked. Prime Video will automatically remedy and release the title, if possible, and ask partner to redeliver a corrected asset.
Redeliver a corrected version of the underlying asset.
Major
A defective asset impairs the viewing experience.
Publishing is not blocked. Prime Video will automatically remedy and release the title, if possible, and ask partner to redeliver a corrected asset.
Redeliver a corrected version of the underlying asset.
Minor
A defective asset diminishes the viewing experience in some small aspect.
Publishing is not blocked. Prime Video will automatically remedy and release the title, if possible, and ask partner to redeliver a corrected asset.
Redeliver a corrected version of the underlying asset.

Defect codes and definitions

The following table lists and defines all of the current defect codes you might encounter, the asset type each code applies to, and the severity of each defect’s impact on the customer.

Image Quality Style Guide/Safe Zones

Artwork violates one or more safe zone guidelines. Critical elements (title treatment, key visual elements) are positioned in areas that conflict with dynamic overlay zones used for badging and branding. Applicable to Cover Art and Poster Art.

Ensure all text, logos, and key visual elements are placed outside the “safe to overlay” areas (marked in the Photoshop templates). Critical content should be positioned away from areas reserved for dynamic overlays, as elements in the overlay zones may be obscured or become unreadable.

Note: Prime Video requires that partner content assets meet our standards and specifications. If a partner studio fails to provide an asset, or provides an asset that does not comply with a quality measurement or other delivery requirement, Prime Video may source any corrected or missing assets. However, partners can submit their own corrected assets at any time. When they do, Prime Video will remove and replace the sourced assets, and customers will see only the studio- or partner-provided files, as long as they comply with Prime Video standards and specifications.
