This document provides music guidance for licensor companies delivering content to Prime Video. It outlines music deliverable requirements, clearance obligations, and approval processes to ensure compliance with Prime Video’s licensing standards.
Deliverables
Cue sheets are a mandatory deliverable for licensed titles where Prime Video has a first run or exclusive licence in 1+ territory:
The digital content provider (licensor or prodco) is responsible for creating the cue sheet using the relevant template and to deliver it to the designated secured folder. Please use the following file name conventions for the cue sheets:
- FilmTitle_CueSheet_PrimeVideo_ YYYY.MM.DD
- SeriesTitle_S#_Ep#_CueSheet_PrimeVideo_YYYY.MM.DD
Clearances
All content being delivered to Prime Video must have all music rights fully cleared in accordance with the licence terms agreed between the production company and / or distributor and Prime Video. Prime Video does not have any blanket agreements that cover the synchronisation of commercial or production library music in licensed or acquired content. Prime Video does have CMO agreements in place that cover the right to broadcast music in Prime Video content, in line with custom and practice for all broadcast platforms.
Prime Video has no production music library deals that can be utilised for licensed content.
Hires
For any licensed content that will be branded as an ‘Amazon Original’, the Amazon MGM Studios Music team will have a right of approval over hires creating original music (e.g. composer/s, songwriter/s, recording artists etc) and, if the content is music-centric (e.g. musician biopics, musicals etc), Amazon MGM Studios Music will have a right of approval over the music supervisor hire. The Prime Video Creative team will be able to introduce you to the relevant Amazon MGM Studios Music contact for your production.
Releases
If there is a plan to release original music from a licensed content title branded as an ‘Amazon Original’, please notify the relevant Amazon MGM Studios Music contact (whose details can be obtained from the Prime Video Creative team). For music releases linked to any other type of licensed content, no reference or branding linked to Amazon or Prime Video should be included in the music title or artwork.
