Welcome to Prime Video.
This video will walk you through the key steps of
the VOD onboarding process, so you know exactly what
to expect from start to finish.
The onboarding process is designed for new Prime Video
Partners who will be delivering VOD content across
one or more of the following business lines.
Channels.
Third-party subscription channels available through
Prime Video.
SVOD Prime.
Subscription Video on Demand included with a Prime
membership.
TVOD.
Transactional Video on Demand covering rentals and
purchases.
And AVOD.
Ad-supported Video on Demand, free to watch with ads.
Let’s watch a quick overview of this onboarding process.
First, Account Set-Up.
We will set up your Slate account and let you know
when it is ready.
Then, Intake.
You will provide key details about your catalog.
Next, Delivery Method Confirmation.
You’ll choose how your content gets to us.
After that, Specification Education.
You’ll be expected to review our delivery specifications
and complete the relevant training for your chosen
delivery method.
Then, we recommend Testing — running a delivery or
two to confirm your setup works end to end.
Once you’re ready, Launch Catalog Offer and Content
Ingestion — your content goes live on Prime Video.
And finally, Steady State, where you deliver content
on an ongoing basis under our Service Level Agreements.
Let’s review each phase in detail.
Slate is your central hub for managing your VOD catalog
on Prime Video.
You’ll hear from us once your Slate account is ready.
Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll find.
The Primary account details tab on Account Settings,
includes details about the account itself, as opposed
to your Amazon account, or your specific business
profile.
Here you will find Account name, Account ID, Account
type, and Business unit aliases.
In the Business Units tab, you can access and configure
your business name, territory, address, and contacts.
You can also manage payees from here.
Visit the Financial Onboarding Support Guide in Slate
for more information.
To manage your content, use Catalog Manager, which
includes the Titles, Avails, Deliveries, and Assets
tabs.
Visit the Title Management Tools Support Guide to
learn more.
To gain access to Slate, you’ll need to provide an
email address linked to your Amazon account.
To give other users access, go to Account Settings
and select User Access and Permissions.
There you can add users and set the right permission
levels.
See the User Access and Permissions Support Guide
for step-by-step instructions.
Before you can be paid, your banking and tax details
need to be completed in the Slate portal.
Select Payees, Bank and Tax from your account settings.
Here you’ll see the payee listed for your contract.
Click the more options icon next to the payee, select
Add bank and tax, and follow the on-screen prompts
to enter your details.
Note the more options icon only appears if you have
the right permissions.
If you can’t see your payee or run into any issues,
reach out to your Prime Video representative or use
the Contact Us form in Slate.
During the intake, your Prime Video contact may ask
you to provide specifics such as your launch catalog,
intended business line, technical specifications,
and more.
We recommend reviewing the Delivery Specifications
Support Guide in Slate beforehand, so you can familiarize
yourself with the requirements.
Speaking of delivery methods, you have two options.
Delivering content directly to Prime Video by yourself
or working with a Preferred Fulfillment Vendor.
If you choose self-delivery, we expect you to complete
the relevant e-learnings for your chosen delivery
method, and we recommend running a test delivery to
confirm your setup.
In addition, you will need to choose how to transfer
your files.
Automation is a requirement for direct delivery.
If you choose a Preferred Fulfillment Vendor, this
reduces launch timelines and simplifies the delivery
process.
The preferred method to deliver to Prime Video is
via an Amazon S3 instance.
Onboarding to S3 includes AWS Identity and Access
Management roles that require access and the AWS region
where your S3 bucket is hosted.
If setting up an S3 bucket isn’t an option for you,
Aspera on Cloud is available as an alternative.
Your Prime Video Onboarding contact will guide you
through delivery setup based on your chosen method.
We expect you to review Prime Video’s Delivery Specifications
and complete the relevant training before you begin
delivering content.
The Slate Support Guide covers everything you need
to know, including delivery methods, file naming,
metadata formats, localization expectations, AI usage
requirements, and more.
You’ll also find information on our self-service publishing
tools — including Launchpad, the Assets Tab, S3, Aspera
on Cloud, asset sharing, MRSS, and APIs — as well
as e-learnings tailored to your chosen delivery method.
We recommend running one or two deliveries yourself
to confirm your setup works end to end.
You can deliver a test file and watch it come through
in Slate — tracked in the Deliveries tab and visible
in the Assets, Title, and Avails tab as it processes.
Before content ingestion begins, submit your full
launch catalog content rights so Prime Video can track,
review, and merchandise your content.
Your content rights can be submitted ahead of or alongside
your initial deliveries.
Once submitted, you’ll begin ingesting your content.
A Prime Video contact will follow up to ensure deliveries
stay on track.
After launching, you’ll enter Steady State.
This is the ongoing phase of your partnership.
You’ll be expected to meet our Service Level Agreements,
which vary by content type.
See the SLA Support Guide in Slate for the full breakdown.
