What Is a Movie Collection?

A Movie Collection is a purchasable bundle of related movie titles (for example, every James Bond movie ever made). Your customers can buy all the movies in the collection at a discounted price. Customers who already own some titles see a “Complete your bundle” option to purchase the rest at a discount.
Each movie in the collection is delivered at the highest available resolution. For example, Movie A is available in SD and HD, and Movie B is available in SD, HD, and UHD. In this case, the customer receives Movie A in HD and Movie B in UHD.

Movie Collections are not compatible with Classic spec offers. All individual movie titles in a collection must be in the Global spec using MovieLabs as your publishing method.

Delivery Requirements

Each Movie Collection delivery requires:

  • A unique identifier or Content ID (SKU)
  • Avails (EMA)
  • Dedicated metadata (MEC)
  • Artwork
  • Dedicated manifest (MMC) only if used for artwork delivery

Movie Collection artwork specifications include Bundle Cover Art, Poster Art, Title Art, design rules, background art categories, and PSD templates. For details, see Enhanced Experience Artwork Specifications.

Content Rights (EMA Avails)

EMA Avail delivery is required to publish Movie Collections.

FormatProfile

For WorkType = collection, Prime Video does not offer quality-specific Movie Collections. Use Max as the recommended FormatProfile value. Prime Video still accepts SD, HD, or UHD, and converts these to Max. You can confirm this in Slate.

Submit a single avail with one FormatProfile value. Avails submitted across different FormatProfile values will be rejected.

TVOD Policy Types

Movie Collection policies for TVOD content use two policy types:

  • Downloads: Controls whether downloading is enabled (On) or disabled (Off).
  • AssetRestriction: Controls language availability using LanguageHoldbacks or IncludedLanguages.

All Movie Collection policies are inherited from movie-level policies. You cannot configure policies directly at the collection level. If you submit policy values via EMA, they are recorded but do not affect content behavior.

Excluding Movies from the “Complete Your Bundle” Discount

Customers who own some movies in a collection see a “Complete your bundle” Buy Box for the rest. The discount percentage is the numeric value in RetailerSpare1 on the collection avail (for example, 30 = 30% discount).

You have two options to exclude a movie from the discount using the movie EMA avail.

[ICON] Quick Tip

Quick Tip

Prime Video does not apply a double discount if titles in your movie collection have TPRs or PMDs running. Those movies are automatically excluded from “Complete your bundle” discounts.

Option 1: New Release

Use this option for a new release movie you want to exclude from the discount. Set LicenseRightsDescription in the movie EMA avail to “New Release”.

This value does not turn off automatically. When the movie is no longer a new release, deliver an updated avail removing “New Release”. A New Release value applied to any FormatProfile applies across all resolution qualities.

Movie Collections require Global spec. Confirm all individual movie titles are in Global spec before creating your collection.

Use FormatProfile = Max for the collection avail. Customers automatically receive the highest resolution for each movie.

Populate BundleALIDs with at least two movie Content IDs (SKUs) separated by semicolons without spaces.

The BundleALIDs list is fixed once the collection is created. Submit a new collection Content ID (SKU) to change the movie list.

Set RetailerSpare1 to a numeric discount value to activate the “Complete your bundle” Buy Box for your customers.
