The following sections provide some common categories of questions about working with the Avails API.
General API use
Typically, all partners are allocated a default of 10 TPS (transactions per second) at the API gateway layer.
A partner can deliver 25 content rights per batch call.
Given the default allocation of 10 TPS and the ability to deliver 25 content rights per batch call, the net resultant throughput is 10 TPS * 25 content rights = 250 content rights per second.
Content removal and date changes
Use “Full Delete” when a title will not go live on the planned date, and the new date is unknown. Full Delete can only be used if assets/metadata have not been delivered. If they have been delivered, you must use an end date.
Yes, you can reuse the SKU if it’s tied to the same vendor alias and title. However, the SKU cannot be used for a different title or vendor, as it remains linked to the original title.
If assets/metadata have not been delivered, use a Full Delete. If they have been delivered, use an end date.
If the content hasn’t launched and you need to end date it, move both the start and end dates to a date in the past to avoid errors. For example, if the original launch was 10/1, adjust the start date to 9/20 and the end date to 9/21.
Slate updates typically happen within 5 minutes. However, updates in PSR may take up to 24 hours to reflect.
No. To immediately expire a live title, set the Avail end date to one day before the current date. For example, if today is April 5, use an end date of April 4.
It can take up to 24 hours for a title to be removed after an end date is submitted.
In the system, a title cannot be linked to two different SKUs at the same time. If you’re switching SKUs, the first SKU must be fully deleted before the new one can launch.
Use the date the title should have gone live. The system will pick it up and launch it as soon as possible.
No, there is no need to update the start date when you are only extending the end date for a live title.
No, you should use either an end date or Full Delete, but never both. If no assets/metadata were sent, use Full Delete. If assets/metadata were sent, use an end date.
If assets/metadata were sent for the wrong SKU, end date the incorrect SKU and notify the relevant team. If assets/metadata were not sent, Full Delete the avail.
Submit Avails
For channels, season SKUs do not require Avails submissions. However, for TVOD, Avails should be submitted for season SKUs.
